Welcome to Club TSA! Technology Student Association. Established in 2016, students lead hands on independent and group technology related activities. Students prepare for Regional and State STEM related TSA competitions. If you win STATE you can advance to Nationals. TSA members serve the greater Tumwater Community by hosting a STEM Camps and STEM Carnivals at local elementary schools. Often we take student on STEM related field trips. We have visited the Microsoft campus in Redmond, the UW CS Program, Seattle's Institute of Technology, and met leaders from the Tacoma Northwest College of Art and Design. Students have traveled to the NIFFTY Film Festival in Seattle and the local TV station for Thurston County Media. Students are offered opportunities to check out TECH equipment and may receive advanced training on Industry equipment.
At Black Hills High School, Mrs. Larson is the lead advisor. Mr. Bell, Mr. Cutler, and Mr. Taggasell support students interests during Club Times. We have many more teachers jumping on board to offer student project support. Last year Senior Kaitlyn Gwinn took 3rd place in Graphic Design (2022) 1st Place in Game Board Design in (2021). Kaitlyn and Caleb Mellum paced 5th in Forensics. Colten Mellum, Brandon Price, and Mason placed top 10 in Video! Eshar Viag competed strongly in the Knowledge Bowl. Announcements: General TSA Club members will meet in Mrs. Larson's Room on Friday Club Days @ Club Times. TSA's Leadership Team will meet on Wednesdays PACK-TIME in Mrs. Larson's room to plan events. To qualify for State you need to pass Regionals - 1st Submission Deadline : 1/19/23 Students wishing to compete at State must participate in Fundraisers. Cost of state is around $200.00 (3 Nights) Only students with excellent preparation will advance to State. Mrs. Larson submits State entries mid February. State Conference: March 22-25, 2023 @ Seatac's Double Tree Inn (Old Red Lion)
